Abu rules with bat in Bud’s victory
GUWAHATI, Jan 17: He is known for his swing and pace, but veteran pace bowler Abu Nechim Ahmed was spotted on Wednesday in a new capacity. This time he ruled the ground with his bat, and with assistance from Diwiz Pathak, he guided Bud Cricket Club to victory by four wickets.
Bud Cricket Club faced New Star Club in the match. Chasing a target of 164 runs Abu opened the innings for Bud with Erik Roy and scored a half century (63 from 69 balls, five boundaries, and two sixes) in the innings.
He also made a crucial partnership with Diwiz Pathak (53 no., 61 balls, 4X5 and 6X1), who played an unbeaten half century knock. The duo on the third wicket produced 77 runs.
Earlier invited to bat, New Star Club scored 163-9 in their 35 overs. Aditya Roy Choudhury (31) was the top scorer. Due to bad light, the match was reduced to 35 overs.
