Gaurav wins International Rating Chess title

Online Staff/GUWAHATI, Dec 26: Kumar Gaurav of Bihar clinched the title in the Guwahati India Open International Rating Chess Tournament 2023 that concluded at the South Point School premises today. Gaurav bagged 8 points on his way to winning the title.
On the basis of the tie break score, Arpan Das of West Bengal, Y Dhanabir Singh of Manipur, Rahul Soram Singh of Assam, and Ningthem Oinam of Manipur, who each scored 7.5 points, were ranked from second to fifth.
A total of Rs five lakh was distributed as a cash prize in the tournament. Former Commonwealth champion and International Master Atanu Lahiri of West Bengal was the chief guest in the closing ceremony. The event was also attended by Dr. S. Lakshamanan, Secretary, Industries & Commerce Dept, Krishnanjan Chanda, Principal, South Point School, Bidhan Das, Deputy Liason Officer, Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare and others
