Jaidip Mukherjee to attend opening ceremony

Online Staff/ GUWAHATI, Jan 19: Former national men’s tennis champion and Arjuna Awardee Jaidip Mukherjee will visit Guwahati to attend the opening ceremony of the India Club Open Tennis Championship. The competition will begin at the India Club premises on January 23. The opening ceremony will also be graced by former number one women national tennis player Susan Das Choudhury and the secretary of the All Assam Tennis Association, Ankush Dutta.
Informing the news to the media the chairman of the organising committee, Bimal Bharali, and tournament director Diganta Thakur said, “Nearly 350 players from various parts of the state will take part in the 7-day tournament, which carries a total scholarship of Rs 1,48,300.
The tournament will be held in various age categories for both boys and girls, along with veteran doubles.”
