Nandan gets FIDE Arbiter title

GUWAHATI: Senior chess player and coach from Assam, Nandan Buragohain, has been awarded the prestigious title of FIDE Arbiter by the International Chess Federation (FIDE). The title was announced by FIDE in its latest list of titles released on Monday following the second FIDE Council meeting.
Buragohain, a prominent figure in Assam’s chess fraternity, currently serves as the Joint Secretary of the All Assam Chess Association and is also a founder member of the Assam Chess Club. Besides his administrative and playing roles, he is a full-time chess coach at Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti School, Amingaon.
The conferment of the FIDE Arbiter title marks another significant achievement in Buragohain’s contribution to the promotion and development of chess in Assam.
