GUWAHATI: The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) Cricket Academy at Fulung on Friday inaugurated a new ultra-modern indoor cricket facility, aimed at providing world-class training and support infrastructure to budding cricketers of the State.
Spread across approximately 17,000 sq. ft., the facility, one of the largest of its kind in the country, was inaugurated by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia in the presence of several office-bearers of the Assam Cricket Association, including secretary Sanatan Das and treasurer Anupam Deka.
The state-of-the-art facility features nine cricket wickets, comprising four spin wickets and five seam wickets. The wickets are fitted with imported Uniturf playing surfaces, allowing players to train under a variety of playing conditions.
The facility also has separate male and female changing rooms, both equipped with ice-bath facilities to aid post-training recovery. A dedicated 1,500 sq. ft. gymnasium has been incorporated into the complex, along with specialised recovery and wellness amenities, including sauna and steam rooms.
In addition, the indoor facility houses a dedicated physiotherapy unit to support player rehabilitation, injury management and recovery, providing athletes with comprehensive assistance beyond their on-field training.
Addressing the gathering, Devajit Saikia said, “The development of modern cricket infrastructure is essential for creating the right environment for players to learn, train and progress. The new Indoor Cricket Facility at the ACA Cricket Academy brings together quality cricketing surfaces, fitness, recovery and physiotherapy facilities under one roof. I am confident that this facility will provide valuable support to the next generation of cricketers from Assam and contribute to their long-term development.”
