GUWAHATI: The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has announced a 15-member squad for the opening two matches of the upcoming Ranji Trophy season, kicking off on October 11. Top-order batter Denish Das has been named captain to lead the state side.
Assam will be without the services of star batter Riyan Parag, who was excluded from the initial squad as he continues his recovery following a recent surgery.
Assam has been placed in Elite Group B alongside Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Saurashtra, Chhattisgarh, Hyderabad, Tripura, and Punjab.
The team will open their Ranji Trophy campaign against Punjab on October 11 at New Chandigarh. Following the opener, Assam will return home to Guwahati to face Tripura in their second fixture on October 18.
