GUWAHATI: Cricket fever has gripped Guwahati as India and the West Indies landed in the city on Monday evening via a chartered flight from Thiruvananthapuram. The two sides are set to clash in the second match of their ongoing One Day International (ODI) series on Wednesday at the ACA Stadium, Barsapara which will kick off at 2 PM.
India currently leads the three-match series 1–0 after securing a commanding eight-wicket victory over the visitors in the opening fixture held on Sunday in Thiruvananthapuram.
Upon touchdown, officials from the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) warmly welcomed both the teams at the airport. Enthusiastic cricket fans also gathered outside in large numbers, hoping to catch a glimpse of their favorite sports stars before the players were escorted under tight security to their designated star-category hotel.
Both squads will head to the ACA Stadium, Barsapara, on Tuesday for their net and training sessions. The West Indies team is scheduled to practice first from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM, followed by the Indian team, which will take to the nets for an evening session beginning at 5:30 PM.
Local authorities and the ACA have put comprehensive security arrangements in place to ensure the event runs smoothly. On match day, gates at the stadium will open to spectators three hours prior to the official 2:00 PM start time. Strict entry guidelines will be enforced: fans will only be permitted to carry mobile phones and small personal purses into the venue. In addition, local police have announced traffic restrictions on major roads leading toward the stadium to manage vehicular flow and prevent congestion throughout the day.
