GUWAHATI: Barak Legends produced a commanding all-round performance to register a convincing eight-wicket victory over Charaideo Sunrisers in the day's second match of the Assam Premier League at the Assam Cricket Association Stadium in Guwahati on Friday.
With this win Barak Legends elevated to second spot in points table with six points from four matches.
After a disciplined bowling display restricted Charaideo Sunrisers to 124 all out, an unbroken third-wicket partnership between captain Sibsankar Roy and Barunjyoti Malakar guided Barak Legends to the target with eight balls to spare.
Electing to field first, Barak Legends made an ideal start with the ball and never allowed the Sunrisers to build sustained momentum. Pradyun Saikia played a counter-attacking knock of 33 off 22 balls, while Himanshu Saraswat remained unbeaten on 31 to help Charaideo post 124 in their allotted 20 overs. Mohit Thakur starred with the ball, returning impressive figures of 3 for 13, while Harsh Kumar and Abdul Ajij Kuraishi chipped in with two wickets each.
In reply, Barak Legends suffered an early setback when Aman Singh was dismissed in the opening over. Bishal Saha then steadied the innings with a fluent 34 off 29 deliveries before his dismissal brought together Sibsankar Roy and Barunjyoti Malakar. The experienced pair took complete control of the chase, adding an unbeaten 74 runs for the third wicket. Roy led from the front with a composed unbeaten 42 off 32 balls, striking three boundaries and two sixes, while Malakar played the perfect supporting role, remaining not out on 37 from 47 deliveries. Their partnership carried Barak Legends to 125 for 2 in 18.4 overs, sealing a comfortable eight-wicket win and further strengthening the team's position in the tournament.

1. Sibsankar Roy climbed to second in the tournament's leading run-scorers' list with 129 runs from four matches. Charaideo Sunrisers' Pradyun Saikia also moved up to third with 127 runs in four matches, while Denish Das slipped to fourth.
2. Among the bowlers, Barak Legends' Mohit Thakur rose to second in the wicket-takers' standings with nine wickets from four matches. Dipak Gohain also has nine wickets and continues to lead the chart by virtue of a superior economy rate.
