Isharani falls short in nail-biter match

Online Staff/GUWAHATI, Dec 4: The Guwahati Masters Super 100 badminton tournament witnessed a day of intense action at the Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Stadium here on Wednesday, with seasoned players pushed to their limits and young talent stepping into the spotlight.
Local favorite Isharani Baruah, seeded eighth, delivered a spirited performance in the women’s singles but narrowly lost to India’s Asian Championship star Anmol Kharab. In a match that saw both players trade powerful rallies, Isharani managed to clinch the second game but ultimately fell short, with the final score reading 21-10, 18-21, 21-18.
Assam’s Suraj Goala who played in missed doubles with Navdha Manglam faced a challenging start to their campaign. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to counter the precise attacks of Ashith Surya and Amrutha Pramuthesh, who secured a comfortable 21-12, 21-12 victory.
In men’s singles, top seed Priyanshu Rajawat overcame a tough challenge from Arya Bhivpathki. Rajawat, trailing 11-16 in the first game, showcased resilience to save a game point and eventually triumphed 22-20, 21-14 in 35 minutes.
On the women’s side, rising star Tanvi Sharma created a buzz by eliminating seventh seed Tanya Hemanth. Displaying remarkable composure, Tanvi secured a straight-game victory 21-18, 21-14 to reach the pre-quarterfinals.
In the mixed doubles event, top seeds Satish Kumar Karunakaran and Adya Variyath dominated their match, defeating Nithin HV and Anagha Pai with ease 21-14, 21-10. Fifth seeds Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto faced a tougher challenge but ultimately overcame the Chinese duo of Liao Pin Yi and Huang Ke Xin 22-20, 21-19.
