Guwahati, March 22: In a historic move, Guwahati is set to host its first-ever Test match in November this year. Additionally, the city has been selected as one of the five venues for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025.
The decision was made during the Apex Council meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), where the venues for the upcoming Test series between India and West Indies, as well as India and South Africa, were finalized, along with the venues for the ICC Women’s World Cup.
This will be a significant milestone for Guwahati, as the city has never hosted either a Test match or a World Cup match before. Guwahati will play host to both events in 2025, with the second Test match between India and South Africa scheduled to be held at the ACA Stadium, Barsapara, starting on November 22. The series will feature two Tests, three One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and five T20Is.
Furthermore, Guwahati is one of the five selected venues for the ICC Women’s World Cup, with each venue set to host at least five matches. The competition will begin on September 24.
