Assam bow out from Santosh Trophy
Online Staff/GUWAHATI, Nov 24: Assam's campaign in the Santosh Trophy Football came to an end as they played out a 1-1 draw against Meghalaya in their final Group E league match at Mukalmuwa on Sunday. Assam needed a decisive 2-0 victory to improve their goal difference and secure a spot in the final round. However, Meghalaya only required a draw, and their solid performance ensured their qualification.

After a goalless first half, Meghalaya broke the deadlock in the 56th minute with a goal from D Chyne. Assam fought back, with Dipu Mirdha equalizing in the 88th minute converting a spot kick, but it was not enough to meet their qualification criteria.

In the group's other match, Arunachal Pradesh clinched a thrilling 4-3 victory over Nagaland. Tagru James scored a brace for Arunachal, while Tarh Dolu and Tame Agung added to the tally. Nagaland's goals came from S Ayenmongbe, Sentilong, and K Kaurinta.
