Our ultimate goal is the trophy: Dravid

Online Staff/GUWAHATI, Feb 20: Rajasthan Royals' head coach, Rahul Dravid, expressed his satisfaction with the team composition and the way the squad is shaping up for the forthcoming season. Interacting with the local media at the ACA Stadium Complex, he discussed the team's targets for the season and shared a special message for local talent Riyan Parag.
The legendary batter was accompanied by ACA officials Taranga Gogoi (President) and Tridib Konwar (Secretary), along with Rajasthan Royals' CEO Jake Lush McCrum.
Dravid emphasized the competitiveness of the IPL, stating, "IPL is a highly competitive tournament, and we need to work together as a unit. Our ultimate goal is to win the trophy, but to achieve that, we must put in a lot of hard work on the field."
On his return to Rajasthan Royals, Dravid expressed a sense of familiarity and pride. "It feels like coming back home. The franchise has always been committed to promoting young and talented cricketers, and it's great to see several promising players in our squad this season. I will stand behind each and every cricketer, encouraging them to put up a strong performance and compete for the title."
Discussing the team’s composition, he highlighted the balance between experience and youth. "We have a well-balanced team with a good mix of experienced and young cricketers. Players like Riyan Parag and Yashasvi Jaiswal may still be young, but they have gained valuable experience, having played numerous matches in the competition. The squad is shaping up well, and our preparation is on the right track."
When questioned about playing home matches in two separate cities, Dravid dismissed any concerns. "I don’t think it’s a challenge. The infrastructure at both venues is excellent, and we are already familiar with the conditions. Additionally, our fan base is strong in both cities, which will provide us with great support. So, I don’t see any disadvantage."
Speaking on Riyan Parag, Dravid expressed confidence in the young player’s abilities. "I have known Riyan since 2018 when he played in the U-19 World Cup under my coaching. He is a highly talented cricketer and a crucial part of our setup. I am confident he will entertain the fans in Guwahati and across the country with his performances. If he plays well in the tournament, it will positively impact Rajasthan Royals as well."
Dravid also offered words of encouragement for Parag, advising him to stay focused. "He is developing well and performing brilliantly. At this stage, he needs to continue working hard and enjoying the game. Ups and downs are a part of cricket, but staying focused and determined is crucial for his growth."
