Bowlers give good start to Ankurjyoti

Online Staff/GUWAHATI, April 21: Ankurjyoti Club registered a convincing 51-run win over Nabajyoti Cricket Club in the 11th Sitaram Chhawchharia Memorial Under-19 Cricket Tournament, organized by Bud Cricket club at NFRSA Stadium, Maligaon, on Monday. The match was reduced to 32 overs per side due to a wet outfield.
After winning the toss, Ankurjyoti Club opted to bat first and posted 123 losing all wickets in 27.2 overs. Simanta Roy top-scored with a well-made 52 off 55 balls, including eight boundaries. He was supported by Nilabhra Nibir Medhi who contributed 16 runs.
In reply, Nabajyoti Cricket Club was bowled out for 72 in 28.4 overs. Shubham Mazumder was the top scorer with 25 off 65 balls. Ankurjyoti’s bowlers dominated the second innings. Simanta Roy (3/20), Zeeshan Islam (3/07) played crucial roles to restrict Nabajyoti 72.
After bat, Simanta Roy also impressed with the ball taking 3/20. The highlight of the second innings was a nice hat-trick from Zeeshan Islam (3/07). For his all-round performance of 52 runs and 3 wickets, Simanta Roy of Ankurjyoti Club was later adjudged Man of the Match.
