Bengaluru FC suspends player and staff salaries

Online staff/GUWAHATI, Aug 4: Former Indian Super League (ISL) champion Bengaluru FC has announced the indefinite suspension of salaries for its first-team players and staff, citing growing uncertainty over the future of the league.
In a statement issued on Monday, the club said, “Running and sustaining a football club in India has always been an uphill climb — one that we’ve put everything aside and made season after season. However, the lack of clarity regarding the league’s future leaves us with no choice but to take this step. The future and well-being of our players, staff, and their families remains our top priority, and we are in touch with them as we wait a resolution.”
The club clarified that its youth development programmes — including men’s and women’s teams and the BFC Soccer Schools — will remain unaffected. Bengaluru FC urged the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) to act swiftly and end the ongoing impasse.
The crisis stems from FSDL’s announcement in last month that the ISL 2025–26 season had been placed “on hold” due to unresolved contractual issues. In response, the AIFF has scheduled a meeting with CEOs from eight ISL clubs in New Delhi this Thursday, aiming to address concerns and work toward a solution.
